Erin Ahlfield, Intern

Erin focuses her studies and practice based on Integrative Psychotherapy; combining techniques and skills within a variety of theories to best fit with the client’s needs. She is holistic and person-centered focused with her experience thus far. With five years of experience, she is anticipating earning her Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University in December 2017. Erin is a member of Chi Sigma Iota; Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International, Lambda Chi Chapter.

Having alternative self-care tools available through living as a registered-experienced yoga instructor, Erin is able to teach in depth new relaxation and restoration techniques for the mind and body as we work towards finding inner balance. Erin has experience within many cultures, which benefits the molding of therapy sessions uniquely per client’s needs/comforts. She has lived in a variety of states, immersed herself into many other countries, and worked for non-profit organizations within the surrounding communities. She is semi-fluent in Spanish and has experience providing direct services to families and working with children in need. Having five years’ experience as a Family Service Worker through the Riverbend Head Start agency, Erin has the resources to help guide your families in the right direction towards a healthier future.

Prior to her career as a Family Service Worker, Erin was a Residential Counselor for substance abuse inpatients at Chestnut Health Services. Within this position, she led and created group therapy sessions to help reduce depression, anxiety, triggering of substance, loss and grief, relaxation, along with anger management sessions. Erin has a large comprehension of and experience with therapeutic approaches and theories, crisis interventions, and working through social dynamics. Erin is looking forward to building rapport with each client. Together they will build strength, balance, and flexibility for the client both individually and within their family units. In therapy, the energy will be calm and relaxing with holistic guidance to help teach clients new life-balancing skills/techniques.
